Prahlad (YSE - Germany)

Prahlad was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1975. After living in various countries in South America, he moved to The Netherlands in 1982. His fascination with sound and music technology led him to go study audio engineering at SAE. After his audio schooling he moved to Ibiza in 1994, where he helped organise the first outdoor Trance parties. Since 2001 Prahlad has been living in Germany, where he set up his company Inspired Sound. This primarily focuses on music consulting & sound design for film and adverts, sound system optimising and stage management at festivals.

After numerous compilation releases on labels such as Midijum, Avatar, Wakyo, YSE, Geomagnetic and Synergetic, Prahlad’s debut album, “Movements of Consciousness”, was released in July of 2007 on YSE Records, the first edition selling out within 6 months.

The underlying theme for the album was inspired by an interview with Dr. Goswami, a leading quantum physicist. Being fascinated with discoveries being made in the relation of intention & perception, sound & light waves, and their interaction with physical matter, Prahlad became drawn to write a unique accompanying soundtrack.

The album spans a wide range of electronic music: influences can be heard from Electro, Progressive and Full On. However, the overall sound is also distinctly different: besides contagious grooves and psychedelic elements, it also leaves space for expansive arrangements and captivating melodies. These are augmented by introspective breaks that incorporate sound textures from all over the globe: Buddhist mantras and ethereal female voices are varied with acoustic instruments from the eastern and western music traditions.

Setsuna (Millennium - Germany)

Prahlad’s new down tempo project Setsuna is under production now, and will be released on Millennium Records in 2008. The tracks are being (co-) written with long time friends Earthling and In Ear, and feature a blend of Ambient, Lounge and Down Beat, with live Bass, Violin, Accoustic and Electric guitars, Vocals and plenty of electronics. The first tracks are appearing now, and their track "White Black and Blue" is receiving airplay on Pathaan's Musical Rickshaw on BBC Radio.

Their first live performance in Berlin, at Odyssee 2008 on New Years eve, lead to an over filled chill out, a television interview, and an on the spot release deal.
